Intimidated by the move from 2D to 3D in Godot? Learn enough 3D basics to get you started. This workshop will cover:
- Prototyping simple environment assets like platforms with StaticBody3Ds and MeshInstance3Ds
- Setting up 3D collision
- Creating a placeholder player with CharacterBody3D
- Making a simple environment with instances of the prototypes
- Adding basic lighting, a World Environment & Camera3D
- Setting up your player to move in your 3D location using the built-in movement script
I am a Massachusetts artist and educator with a BFA in Illustration from Maine College of Art and a MAT in Art and Design Education from Rhode Island School of Design. I have been teaching art since 2008. Currently I teach game dev to high school students using Godot, along with other digital arts classes. I also record tutorials for Xogot.
